DART - Dynamic Animation Replacer Tool (beta) (2024)

DART - DYNAMIC ANIMATION REPLACER TOOL

Description
Since I often enjoy playing with DAR and its numerous possibilities, especially combining animations from different creators, managing my DAR-based mods was relatively tedious and exhausting, needing to be tweaked and hom*ogenized folder by folder, despite some useful abilities of mod managers like MO2, allowing to detect some conflicts/duplicates. It was in this context that I decided to take the leap and create this program to help me solve this problem, give me an overview of my DAR-based mods, and allow me to manage them all easily in one place.

DART (Dynamic Animation Replacer Tool) is a utility program designed to centralize and manage all the contents related to Dynamic Animation Replacer (DAR). Should be compatible with any mod manager at the time being (v0.2.0+), including Mod Organizer 2 (MO2) (default settings) and Vortex (check this sticky post if needed).

Current features*
- No ESP (utility program).
- Scans all installed mods in the root folder of the mod manager (Mod Organizer 2 at the time being) and identifies those that utilize Dynamic Animation Replacer (DAR) framework.
- Filters and displays all detected content by animations, conditions, mods, and priorities, enabling users to access all content quickly, easily and from a single location.
- Detects duplicated priorities to assist in managing duplicates. These duplicates can be highlighted directly in the main window (v0.4.0+).
- Allows users to make changes to mods and conditions directly from the interface, including renaming folders and editing conditions files (_conditions.txt).
- Tweakable userssettings:
* Theme & language management: you can add a new language or theme (or modify an existing one) by editing/creating json files in DART/gui/i18n (for languages) orDART/gui/themes (for themes) folders. Please share your translations here, I'll be pleased to add them into the next update and to credit you as a contributor :)
* Root path customization: now you should be able to install DART in any folder (including outside of your mod manager) and to set a custom root path to your mod manager root folder (launch DART and then go to Settings>Change root path). It should also allow Vortex users (or any other mod manager than MO2) to use DART features. Note that if you follow the installation method provided into the tutorial, DART is still able to get the default root path for MO2 with no need to customize it yourself.
*Cache feature: better performance for heavy settings and/or non-SSD users (launch and modifications of GUI settingsare not affectedand still require to raw data retrieval). The cache can be manually refreshed from "File" menu, and the option can be disabled in the "Settings" menu.
*Exclusion lists: hide unwanted mods or conditions (eg. inactive mods, commentaries conditions...) to allow for a more precise management of your DAR mods and conditions, and a clear and adaptable interface. Comes with an option to instantly exclude all inactive mods in your mod manager with a single click (currently tested in MO2).
- Optional sidebar with convenient tools:
*Automated uniform randomizer: automatically add or modify a Random(n) condition for selected priorities to ensure that each priority has an equal probability of being triggered. The computation can optionally include the base animation (i.e. the one not using DAR), with the option setting located under the "Tools" menu.

Please check the videofor more information about how to use the main features, and refer to the complete playlistfor more detailed guidance on using DART's specific features.

Installation
1. Download and install the program with your mod manager (currently compatible with MO2; a future release will include custom settings and the ability to change their root path, making it compatible with Vortex and custom installations), just as you would do with any mod.
2. As an optional step, you can add the program to the app tab of MO2.
3. These steps are demonstrated in the accompanying video.

Compatibility and load order
No known incompatibilities.

Future plans
- Additional features for quality of life improvements: automated sorting of DAR content (like LOOT for mods), an enhanced tool to help creating conditions and with easy-to-use conditions patterns, an animation preview window.
- More customization (custom exclusions patterns, uniform randomization, delete/rename hkx animation files (?)...).
- More optimizationfor very heavy installations and/or HDD users.
- Fixes/enhancements: better consistency when installed as a MO2 app and launched through MO2 dropdown menu (see this postfor and this postfor details)
- Since it's a community tool, I'm open to other ideas:feel free to share them in comment section. ;)
